-Medicare is the federal health insurance program for people who are 65 or older, certain younger people with disabilities, and people with End-Stage Renal Disease (permanent kidney failure requiring dialysis or a transplant, sometimes called ESRD). In some situations, your doctor may make a referral to a home care agency where care is provided in the home on a short term basis or under end of life care, such a hospice. These guidelines are strict and Medicare only covers a limited amount of care. Medicare does not cover the cost for respite.

-Veterans Benefits: sometimes there are programs that can offset some costs as a caregiver such as respite care at a VA facility or other programs. Contact Eagle County Veterans Officer,  telephone at 970-390-4686 or via email at Pat.Hammon@eaglecounty.us.
